The regular sitters within the Spirit Lodge Circle feel that there is nothing inherently dangerous about using an Ouija board as a tool with which to enable communication between themselves and those living within the spirit world. However, as with all similar avenues of communication Respect is considered to be a crucial factor when working with those who have passed.

This evening we, as a circle, decided to break with our usual routine and in order to hold an experiment using an Ouija board.

FC (the circle’s supporting spirit guide) had offered this guidance before the experiment began:

His guidance included: Open with the circle’s customary prayer. Play cheerful background music. Set soft but clear lighting conditions.

He went on to suggest that we begin with Jon, Jerry and Lynne sitting at the small wooden table with the Ouija board and planchette laid on top. At the close of the first piece of music (this piece opens every séance held within the lodge) all three table sitters are to place one finger lightly upon the planchette.

Jon, would then (using FC's words) “take control of the board”, and open the evening's experiment by inviting communication through the board.

FC further suggested that after awhile Jon may say “Thank you for working with me. I now invite Jerry to speak with you”. Jerry would then continue as Jon had previously. Until he too tired. He may then thank the spirit people for working with him and suggest that Lynne takes over as communicator.

After a further period of time and shared experience any of the sitters (aside from Jon, who should remain seated and in control of the table at all times) may be replaced at the table by another sitter.

Those not seated at the table would watch and take notes of any letters touched by the planchette….

At close of séance Jon, regardless of having received communication or otherwise, would thank Spirit and then close the board.

Chris would then say the circle’s regular closing prayer.

With this guidance in mind we proceeded to experiment with the Ouija board.

The evening opened as planned with Jon, Jerry and Lynne seated at the table. The witnessing sitters at the start were: Chris, Lynne, Graham, Margaret and Michelle. All had a clear view of the board.

During the first piece of music Jon experienced a light trance condition, which remained in place throughout the séance. Others within the group also displayed some evidence of similar experience. These were Lynne, Graham and Michelle. It should be noted that all those within the lodge circle are familiar with the energies; and several are medium's readily affected by spirit control.

At the end of the first piece of music, when the three table sitters placed their fingers upon the triangular metal planchette it moved almost immediately. During the next 15 minutes the planchette moved to indicate a selection of letters in a random fashion: GPDTHO Yes APBHEAAO7 X Yes. Upon enquiry it was then indicated that the X was in fact meant as a kiss, rather than as a letter.

When asked if there was a message for anyone present the board responded with Yes and the letters THOEQF were indicated.

Sitters offered a few further questions, and the board appeared to indicate that the communicating entity was male and passed at the age of 12 years.

As the table sitters arm’s began to ache some of those within the observing group replaced them. The pattern of questions and responses continued, with little sense apparent within the responses, although occasionally some element of 'personality' seemed to be present. By this time about 30 minutes had passed. Several entities seemed to, in turn, approach and vacate the board (the planchette would stop moving) before another seemed to take over and movement continued. When all of the observing sitters had taken their turns Chris placed her finger upon the planchette.

Chris immediately felt that there was a ‘static’ effect beneath the planchette, which was causing it to very readily glide over the surface of the board. She had previously tested the (new) board herself before the seance began, and had found that the planchette would slide upon the board if slightly pushed, but at that time there had been no energy felt beneath it and it did not as readily slide as in these séance conditions. Her mind then queried whether the energy beneath the planchette was the result of a heat build up, caused by the heat from the three fingers resting upon the thin metal. However...this did not explain the apparent free 'independent' movement of the planchette back and forth across the board, as she had witnessed happening; sometimes at high speed. It should be recorded that, during this experiment, when one sitter's finger lost contact with the planchette it's movement slowed down, and when only one finger remained in contact there was further reduced speed of movement.

Next, although totally trusting of the table sitters, Chris had set up the Ouija board as an experiment, she therefore took the initiative and opportunity to herself ‘guide’ the planchette upon the board. Immediately upon her effecting this action the planchette, being triangular, turned in a manner indicative of her guidance. Jon later indicated his recognition of this. The exercise confirmed that should any of the sitters themselves set out to guide the planchette it would turn in this same manner as it had with Chris's guidance. No guidance of the planchette would go undetected.

Therefore, during this séance the sitters were proven not to have guided the planchette themselves.

Whilst Chris held contact with the planchette (by resting one finger lightly upon it) she asked the communicating entity to give their name. The entity spelled TOM. Tom is the name of one of the regular spirit communicators within the lodge, so, as Tom usually visits with a friend, Chris asked him to spell out the name of this friend. The planchette immediately sped to form a circle around the letter R. This being the primary intitial of Tom’s friend, it caused laughter amongst the sitters. Chris then asked Tom to give her a definate message, maybe even just one word. Tom promptly spelled FC. Again, knowing the guide of the circle, the sitters smiled their recognition. Tom went on to spell CHRISTI before leaving the board.

This presentation went a long way to convincing everyone present that, aside from themselves, a conscious guiding energy was using the board for the purpose of communication.

Later an entity gave the name of LYDIA. She said that she passed at age 15 in an accident in 1710..

Another entity appeared to spell I AM OCMER X (we took the X to represent a kiss).
NOTE: When afterwards checking this name on Facebook the surname Ocmer was found to be fairly popular.

A final flow of LOLEL ALLE MGL ALBKBHLD AM was offered before the experiment was brought to an close. Upon Jon’s indication of closure the entity slid the planchette to ‘Goodbye’, which indicated an awareness of the situation.

Those sharing this evening’s séance agreed that the Ouija board does appear to enable communication with others outside of themselves and that the board offers an objective experience.

The circle have resolved to try further experiments using the Ouija board when time allows.
